Printer is connected to the wireless internet.
Laptop shows Fax- HP Officejet 4650 series as the default printer
But I cannot get anything to print. I have used every help and support tool I can find. SOme times I get a mesage that the Printer canot be found . I am using the Prnter IP address listed on the creen but it is only 9 digits. Are these supposed to be 10 as in all the examples provided? xxx.xxx.x.xxx? Miine is only xxx.xxx.x.xx.

Thanks for replying. I can understand the time involved to troubleshoot.
I would like to give it one more try. These should hep:
-
Turn on the printer if it is not already on.
-
On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon
.
The Wireless screen displays.
-
Touch the Settings icon
.
-
Search for Restore Network Defaults and select it.
Now run the wireless setup wizard on the printer:
-
On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon
.
The Wireless screen displays.
-
Touch the Settings icon
.
-
Touch Wireless Setup Wizard, then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.
The above steps should connect the printer to the wireless network. If the printer does not print then re-run the printer drivers.
Let me know. All the best! 🙂

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer and it is connected wirelessly and does not print. You get a message that the printer cannot be found. I'd like to assist you with this case.
The IP address contains 4 sets (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). Each set has space for 3 numbers. The last two sets may either have 1 or 2 numbers at times.
I suggest you to change to the default printer from Fax- HP Officejet 4650 series to HP Officejet 4650 series. Because the Fax- HP Officejet 4650 series is used for digital faxing and does not help in printing.
- Please view this video to change the default printer in Windows 8: http://hp.care/2ih0rmM
- Also please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software to fix any printing or scanning related issue.
Keep me posted on how it goes. All the best! 🙂

HI, I should have been more clear. The Fax- HP Officejet 4650 series is the only HP 4650 option appearing in my devices so changing the default to the HP 4650 series is not an option. The HP4650 series does not show up in my Printer Devices yet.
When I install the software and get to the connect to the printer page it shows that it cannot find the printer. The printer is connected to my wireless network via a router and my laptop is also connected to that same wireless network.
I have confirmed I am entering the correct IP address and the correct Host name. Neither work when trying to make a connection from the laptop to the printer.
I am about ready to return this printer . It should nto be this diffcult tp set up.

That resolved the issue with getting the software to install correctly and link to the printer.
I did have to run the Help tool, (I cannot remember actual name) but all I had to do was re-start the network and printer and that resolved the issue with printing. Thank you so much for your assistance.

I may have spoken too soon. Apparently I am having to turn off my printer and restart it each time I print. As soon as I turn it back on the document prints. How do I fix this?
Also. each time I print I am getting a pop upbox asking ,e to enroll in the ink refill program. Can I make this go away?
