Hi @mmurray358,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 4650 Printer is not printing from Chromebook, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and set up the printer:

1. Make sure your printer supports Google Cloud Print:

  • HP OfficeJet 4650 supports printing via Google Cloud Print. However, as Google Cloud Print was deprecated, newer printing protocols like Wi-Fi Direct or HP Print for Chrome should be used.

2. Enable Wi-Fi Direct Printing:

  • On your printer:
    1. Press the Wi-Fi Direct button (or access it via the printer's control panel).
    2. If Wi-Fi Direct is off, turn it on.
    3. Make sure the printer is broadcasting its Wi-Fi Direct name.
  • On your Chromebook:
    1. Click on the clock in the lower-right corner and go to Settings.
    2. Select Wi-Fi and look for your printer’s Wi-Fi Direct name in the list of available networks.
    3. Connect to it using the default password provided by your printer.

3. Use HP Print for Chrome Extension:

  • If you haven’t installed it already, go to the HP Print for Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  • After installing:
    1. Open HP Print for Chrome.
    2. Click the extension icon from the Chrome toolbar.
    3. Add your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer by following the on-screen prompts.
    4. Try printing a test page.

4. Update Chromebook OS and Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your Chromebook is up to date with the latest version.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet 4650 by visiting the HP Support Website.

5. Print via USB Cable (If Needed):

  • If Wi-Fi or wireless printing doesn’t work, connect your printer to the Chromebook using a USB cable. You may need to manually add the printer in Settings > Advanced > Printing.

Refer to this document: HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer series User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
