Officejet 5255 wrong cartridges help
12-10-2020 09:37 AM

I bought a "renewed" Officejet 5255 off of Amazon and after some hassle they sent the "setup" ink cartridges but the machine just says "Wrong Cartridges" "do not use setup cartridges...I can only assume it was setup already by a previous owner but I cannot be sure that if I buy correct new ink that it would work...is there a way to do a factory reset or something so I can do the setup process new and not have to return the whole machine?

@GuyNamedLuke, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The only option left is to perform an OOBE reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Would you please send me the link of instructions to bypass the Setup Cartridge issue? Not 100% if my printer is 5255 or 5258 because it's labeled 5255 on the outside and labeled 5258 on the inside near the ink cartridge station. Thank you!!
