Hi,

you need the full solution software.

  1. First download only this complete package: "HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories ".
  2. Then the HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system, see "Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows) ".
  3. Restart the PC.
  4. Close all programs
  5. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads click on the EXE,
    File name: OJ6960_Full_WebPack_40.11.1150.exe

Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner.Document error messages, even better is a screenshot and upload here. The network configuration or the type of connection can be changed later, see here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Andreas

Thank you.

I have tried many times to have the problem fixed via HP print and scan doctor. No help came out of that.

Also did the Windows Image Acquisition settings and made sure it was turned and yet it still does not work.

When I click scan on my printer it says that I need to make sure the scanning software has been installed.

I never removed any software

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for the the advice but - even though I have followed your instructions I still cannot do scans.

When I click on 'scan' the printer the message on the printer is that I should make sure that the scanning software has been installed and configured on my computer.

As mentioned I did all you suggested me to do. Deleted all HP on my computer and then reinstalled everything from the link and yet still there is a problem.

In fact my husband also has a problem with scanning on his HP all in one 6978

Can all this have anything to do with some Windows update?

Hi again Andreas,

I have no clue what suddenly happened. I had not changed anything. Just sent my message to you.

Then I saw there was a message in my notifications that I should use the HP app so I clicked on that app and lo and behold - now I can scan again.

Thank you

HI Andreas,

I was wondering if you have the total installation link for All-in-One printer 6978 as well?

I want to help my husband so he can use his scanner again, too

Thank you

Hi Andreas,

Thank you.- but now there really is a big problem. I thought I had to remove someof the HP files however not sure if I had to remove everything.

Downloaded the top suggestion in the link you sent for HP printer all-in-one 6978 and supposedly installed that but now the computer cannot find the printer and the printer cannot recognize any drivers in the computer.

What can I do to correct this?

Thank you very much in advance

Hi Andreas,

I hope all is well.

Not sure if you noticed my response regarding now I really have problems with scanning on my husbands HP office all-in-one 6978.

The printer says there are missing driver - just like my printer initially said that drivers were missing.

What can be done to fix this problem?

Thank you

Best regards,

Cathrine
