I keep getting the error Missing or Failed Printhead on my Officejet 7612 (wide format printer).

I get this periodically with now real idea of why it appears or goes away. I always use hp ink and have followed steps of unplugging it with no success.

It appears now that it is permanently stuck with this error.

I read another post stating that it is better to buy a new printer. I really do not want to throw this into the landfill only to buy another printer. Is there really no other solution??

I had the same problem and took it to be built in obsolesence. A minor problem which gradually gets worse until the component fails. Having looked up the price of a new print head and recognising that the printer didn't really owe us much, we bought a new one.

That's what I was afraid of... thanks for the reply.

I likely will go ahead and do that but I am quite disappointed in HP. Especially having bought printers from them for over 30 years.

We really need to companies to embrace the idea of the "right to repair electronics" !
