HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer

My OfficeJet 8015e all of a sudden stopped printing PDF documents.  I have tried:

- rebooting the computer and printer

- checking the printer connection

- able to print from other programs

- updating Adobe

- print as image (didn't work)

- updating printer driver

- updated firmware

- printing from the HP Smart app (didn't work)

Does anyone else have any suggestions?  Not sure where to go from here.

Hi @shannone98

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 8015e is able to print from other applications, but PDF files are no longer printing even after updating Adobe, the printer driver, firmware, and testing "Print as Image." I appreciate the thorough troubleshooting you've already completed. That helps narrow down the possible causes.

Since the issue appears to be isolated to PDF processing, let's try the following advanced steps:

Reset the Windows print environment

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler.
  • Right-click it and select Stop.
  • Browse to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in that folder.
  • Return to Services and Start the Print Spooler again.

Remove the printer driver completely and reinstall

  • Open Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall HP printer software.
  • Open Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and remove it.
  • Press Windows + R, type:
    printui.exe /s
  • Remove any HP OfficeJet 8015e drivers from the Drivers tab.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Download and install the latest Full Feature Software from HP Support.

Test printing from a different PDF source

  • Save the PDF locally to the desktop.
  • Open it in Microsoft Edge and attempt printing.
  • If it prints from Edge but not Adobe, create a new Adobe Reader preference profile by repairing the installation:
    • Adobe Reader > Help > Repair Installation.

Check the PDF itself

  • Try printing a different PDF file.
  • If only specific PDFs fail, the file may contain embedded fonts, transparency effects, or corruption that the print renderer cannot process correctly.

Add the printer using its IP address

  • Obtain the printer's IP address from the printer display.
  • In Windows, add a new printer using TCP/IP Address instead of the existing printer queue.
  • This creates a fresh print port and can resolve document processing issues.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
