New Officejet 8015e printer installed new approx. 2 weeks ago. Today (10 Aug '21) it printed a queued job OK when powered on, then lost the wireless network. Successfully reconnected to wireless network, but then printer started to update software. Download proceeded to 100%, printer restarted, but then started a new update cycle without ever reaching a useable state. The cycle continued approx 10 times (I haven't counted it), and then stops with ERROR CODE 0XC9C60003 FEATURE_SMARTD. On/off button is unresponsive, and no options available via touch console; only solution is to power off at mains, switch on again, and enter a new, unsuccessful update cycle that eventually ended again with the error code above.
HP Smart > Diagnose and Fix shows printer remains offline throughout, so no ability to control the printer from HP Smart; printer console is showing software update downloading to 100%, but blue wifi light remains off at all times ... it's in a world of its own. Please tell me how to regain control of the printer and get it out of this continuous, unsuccessful update cycle; thanks.

@Sagittarii, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand the printer is stuck in a loop of updating firmware. Let us try these steps:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.
If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

Kumar, thank you for trying to help. Your two suggestions were unsuccessful; the problem persists even after removing the power cord for 60 seconds, and after removing the power cord and holding down the on button for 15 seconds. As soon as the power is reconnected, the printer reverts to the update loop - and keeps looping.
