When I look at the available WiFi signals on my cell phone, I see my printer is emiting a WiFi signal (Name: "HP-Print-20-Office") but it's asking for a password and I don't know how to get into the system to change whatever it is.

I know somewhere I should be able to contact an HP web server to rest my password from my registered email address. But I haven't found it yet.

Any suggestions?

I finally found it! I had to go to Youtube to find How-To videos that HP uploaded on how to print the setup page you suggested. It provided a step-by-step procedure on how to find the Network Setup Page. The password is a series of numbers, not a word or phrase like I thought it might be. I'm officially logged in with greater signal and speed. Thanks for your help.

You must print out the Wireless Config sheet from the printer to see the printers password. You don't have a router, correct?

I don't see where to print the "Wireless Config sheet". Can you tell me step-by-step where I can find it on an Officejet 8600 plus?

Yes, I do have a wireless router. But it's situated too far in front of the apartment to effectivally reach the back where I am. And no, I can't move the router closer because it'll end up in the middle of a long hallway and neither my wife nor I want to trip over it in the night. It already has a signal extender to *just* reach the back room. But the signal is still too weak.

I'm not sure what you are seeing is your printer.  Do me a favor.  Turn your printer off.  Now scan again on your phone and let us know if you see that SSID.

Reason- I can't find in the User Guide that your printer supports Wireless Direct.

When I shut off the printer, this is what comes up (above). The "HOME-DA86" must be from a nearby house as I've never seen this signal before. But this proves the "HP-Print-20-Office" SSID is mine.

When I turn the printer back on I get it back again (see below).

Now if I can only log into it.
