Hi @schin1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing issues with the Scan to Email feature on your Officejet 8715 and have already updated the Outgoing Email Settings for Comcast/Xfinity, here are some suggestions to troubleshoot the problem.

Double-check Settings:

  • Ensure that the SMTP Server is correctly set to smtp.comcast.net.
  • Confirm that the SMTP Port is set to either 587 or 465 (you may try both to see if one works).
  • Make sure the "Always use secure connection (SSL/TLS)" option is checked.

Server Authentication:

  • It seems like there might be a typo in your Server Authentication setting. It should typically be your full Comcast email address, not just ___@comcast,net. Correct this to your full Comcast email address (e.g., yourname@comcast.net).

Check Comcast/Xfinity Email Account:

  • Make sure that your Comcast/Xfinity email account is active and in good standing.
  • Log in to your Comcast/Xfinity email account via webmail to ensure there are no issues with your account.

Firewall/Antivirus Software:

  • Check your computer's firewall and antivirus settings to ensure they are not blocking the communication between the printer and the email server.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your Officejet 8715 has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates that can resolve compatibility issues. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.

Contact Comcast/Xfinity Support:

  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Comcast/Xfinity support for assistance. They may be able to provide specific information about any potential issues on their end.

Alternative Email Settings:

  • Some ISPs may have specific requirements for SMTP settings. You might want to check if Comcast/Xfinity has any specific instructions for SMTP settings for devices like printers.

Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the network and can access the internet. Check if there are any network issues preventing the printer from connecting to the SMTP server.

SMTP Authentication:

  • Double-check if your printer supports SMTP authentication, and if it does, ensure that the username and password are correctly entered.

Error Messages:

  • Take note of any error messages you receive. These messages can provide more specific information about the nature of the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
