Windows 10 has stopped recognizing the printer driver for my Officejet. It tells me that there is a problem with the digital signature for the driver.
I found the driver files in C:\Program Files\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 8720\DriverStore\HPRestStub and checked the properties of the driver -- it shows that it was signed on 5/31/2017 with a Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher certificate that expired on 1/5/2018.
I've downloaded the latest driver files from the HP site and have installed them. (OJ8720_Full_WebPack_40.11.1148.exe, dated Jul 28, 2017) They did not install a driver with a newer signature.
Is HP going to offer an updated driver any time soon? I can't print.

Hi @Marc-S ,
Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
Root Level – printer driver reinstallation:
I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:
In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Keep me posted,
If the information I’ve provided was helpful,
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck. 😉

@Barachiel,
Thanks for the complete uninstall instructions. That fixed it.
I previously had an Officejet 8000 Pro installed. A few days ago, the HP Support Assistant pushed a print driver update to me and I allowed it to install; I suspect that it pushed me an update for the old 8000 printer that overwrote the 8720 driver or at least some shared files. Completely removing both and then reinstalling only the 8720 seems to have put everything back right.
