Even though the same Firmware Update is listed under 6835 I get the following message when I run the FP FIrmware Updater:
"This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device."
Hopefully someone with a 6830 will try it!

I received a re-furbed 6830 on 5/22. It just did an auto update, which is odd since I had that feature turned off. My 6812 immediately made noise when it went to sleep. I can confirm this 6830 has went into sleep mode several times and there is not any whiny noise and there is no more light blinking on the back near the power cord.
Current firmware version is PNP1CN1521AR

WHAT an ordeal! In the future I hope HP will do a better job supporting their customer base. I've been dealing with this issue for 2 weeks - HP sent me a refurbished printer although I mentioned several times this issue was happening to many consumers after the recent firmware update and suggested they monitor the HP hosted forums. Both times I was in communication with HP directly they seemed unaware of the multitude of folks affected by the "noise". I received a replacement printer this weekend but had not opened the box as I was reluctant to have a used/refurbished printer to replace my nearly new/unused one. HP FINALLY addressed the problem they created with this update which I downloaded this morning. My printer has been quiet ever since. I will now return the other printer. All-in-all when I'm finished I will have spent several hours on this. I am happy my printer is working like it did 2 weeks ago, but very disatisfied by how LONG it took HP to address it. Poor service recovery.

Problem seems to be resolved today. I did not update the firmware, perhaps it was pushed to my printer automatically, just like the push which created the problem a few weeks ago.
Glad HP resolved the problem. It just would be so refreshing if someone from HP could acknowledge the issue and say "yes, we know, fix on the way". Is it really that hard to do? It would make a world of difference in your customer service. That said, I appreciate the fix!
