Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer was printing in color, now there is no option to choose black/white or color. I have done the hard reset as recommended. I have also uninstalled all hp driver info from registry and re-installed from hp's site. this allowed it to work for a few day's, then all color printing stopped yet again. if I use the hp app it works, but I loose functionality with scanning. we have this printer networked to 7 other computers all running windows 10. when I run the status report it also prints in color. yes, they are genuine cartridges (always have been). very frustrating. not sure what other options there are? the printer has only printed 1700 pages as we mostly use it as a scanner.

Let's try adding the printer with windows built-in drivers-

 

Set Windows Update to automatically download driver software

Confirm that your computer is set to automatically download driver software.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Change device installation settings.

  2. In the Device Installation Settings window, select the Yes option, and then click Save Changes.

If the printer is connected wireless, follow the steps below-

 

1.  Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box. 

2.  Choose “Printers & scanners“. 

3.   elect “Add a printer or scanner“. 

4.  Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it. 

5.   Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“. 

6.   select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list. 

7.  Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.  

8.  Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

 

Try printing.
