The OfficeJet Pro 8022e won't start up. At first, the display froze and didn't respond. After restarting (disconnecting from the mains), the progress bar appears, reaches the end, and then nothing happens.
What else can I do?

Hi @joho64,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e isn’t starting up properly and gets stuck after the progress bar reaches the end. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power Reset the Printer

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug it directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).

Reconnect the power cord to the printer and try turning it on again.

Check for Signs of Power Surge or Interruption

If the printer was recently moved or there was a power fluctuation, the startup sequence may have failed.

Performing the power reset often clears temporary firmware lockups.

Boot in “Partial Reset” Mode

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Press and hold the # and 3 keys on the control panel while plugging the power cord back in.

Keep holding the keys until the printer powers on.

This performs a partial reset that clears temporary system errors without affecting stored data.

Try a “Semi-Full Reset” (if Partial Reset Fails)

Disconnect the power cord again.

Press and hold the # and 6 keys while reconnecting the power cord.

Continue holding until the printer powers on.

This deeper reset clears corrupted startup data and restores factory defaults.

Inspect the Power Supply and USB Connections

Ensure there are no USB devices or cables connected while booting.

A faulty cable or external connection can sometimes prevent the printer from completing startup.

Allow a Few Minutes After Reset

After performing the reset, leave the printer on for about 3–5 minutes.

The progress bar might move slowly while the firmware reinitializes.

I hope this helps.
