Thank you for reaching out!

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210's display is frozen, making it impossible to update the firmware, try the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Perform a Soft Reset:

    • Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still turned on.
    • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
    • Turn the printer back on and check if the display is responsive.
  2. Check Power Connection:

    • Ensure the printer is connected to a working power outlet. Avoid using power strips or surge protectors, as they may limit the power supply.
  3. Reset Network Settings:

    • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, resetting the network settings might help:
      • Go to the printer’s control panel, navigate to Network Settings, and then select "Restore Network Defaults."
  4. Access the Firmware Update via HP Smart:

    • If the display remains frozen, try accessing and updating the firmware through the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device:
      • Install and open the HP Smart app.
      • Add your printer if it isn’t already connected.
      • Once added, look for options to update the firmware.
  5. Hard Reset:

    • If the soft reset doesn't work, try a hard reset:
      • Turn off the printer, disconnect all cables, including the power cord.
      • Wait for a few minutes before reconnecting the cables and powering it back on.

Kindly update us if this resolves the issue, and we’re here to help if you need anything more.
