I might need to completely reset my printer, since it is stuck after resolving the printhead error.

Could you please send me a Manual how to reset this printer to original factory settings ?

 Kind Regards

Michael

Hi @mlachlan2909 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to reset your HP OfficeJet Pro 8616 e-All-in-One Printer to its original factory settings, you can follow these steps:

Resetting HP OfficeJet Pro 8616 Printer to Factory Settings

Turn On the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is turned on and is not in the middle of a print job.

Access the Printer’s Control Panel:

  • On the printer’s control panel, touch the Setup icon (represented by a gear icon).

Navigate to Printer Maintenance:

  • From the Setup menu, select Printer Maintenance or Tools (depending on the version of your printer's firmware).

Choose Restore Factory Defaults:

  • Look for the option Restore Factory Defaults or Restore Default Settings and select it.
  • Confirm the action if prompted.

Complete the Process:

  • The printer will start the reset process. This may take a few minutes.
  • Once completed, the printer will restart automatically.

Reconfigure the Printer:

  • After the printer restarts, you will need to set it up again. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network and configure your printer settings.
  • Manual Reference: For specific details or additional troubleshooting, refer to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8616 user manual
  • Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date after resetting to avoid any new issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Refer to this document: HP Officejet Pro 8616 e-All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi gaya,

unfortunately this is not as easy as it should be.

Since my graphical display never comes up, I managed to reset the printer with the internal menu. Unfortunately it still comes up only with setting the date and time. The it comes back to the initializing setup... - screen and nothing more happens.

I left it running now for several hours...

Any other ideas ?

Kind regards

Michael

Hi again,

after using my flashlight to check the inside. I found a plastic strip laying on the bottom which has approximately the width of the printer about 5mm high and got on the left end a squared hole with a smiley next to it a + sign and a black dot. On the right hand side it got an arrowhead pointing upwards a + sign and then another squared hole.

Any idea now ?

Regards

Michael
