I'm using the HP smart app to add my 8716 Officejet Pro printer, but it just stalls when it gets to the section "add my printer" and won't recognize it even though I am connected to the same wi-fi. Somebody, please help. Thank you bunches.

Hi @kimisland,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering issues with installing the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer driver on your Android device using the HP Smart app, here are some steps you can try.
- Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your Android device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that your printer is connected to. Both devices need to be on the same network for the HP Smart app to detect the printer.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, restarting both your printer and your Android device can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. Similarly, restart your Android device.
- Update HP Smart App: Make sure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your Android device. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve connectivity issues.
- Clear App Cache (if applicable): If the HP Smart app is still not working, try clearing its cache on your Android device. Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Storage, then tap on Clear Cache.
- Reinstall HP Smart App: If clearing the cache doesn't work, try uninstalling the HP Smart app from your Android device and reinstalling it from the Google Play Store. This can sometimes resolve issues related to app configuration.
- Manual Setup: If the HP Smart app continues to have trouble detecting your printer, you can try setting up the printer manually. Open the Wi-Fi settings on your Android device, connect to your printer's Wi-Fi network directly (if available), and then follow the manual setup instructions provided by HP.
- Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is compatible with the HP Smart app for Android. It should be compatible, but verifying this can sometimes uncover compatibility issues.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and successfully install the printer driver on your Android device using the HP Smart app.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
