I have had this printer for over a week now and i cannot  get the setting correct to scan to email. i have tried every version of server/port/email address etc but nothing works. i get different messages when i change the settings in EWS. this is a home printer and all i want it to be able to do is scan to an email. can anyone tell me what i need to put in the fields. To and from are always ghosted have no idea why. EWS copy to email is checked so i must be doing something wrong with this.

That said, there are a couple of places to edit / adjust / check:

Use Port 587 (or even 465) as opposed to 25.

Most email providers require 2-step verification when interacting with third party software.

Scan-to-Email qualifies as "third party software".

The solution is to enable 2-Step verification / sign-in in your email account > Go to your email security > Enable 2-Step verification AND to create an App Password.

When you create the App Password, make a note of it --

When you create your Scan to Email profile, enter the App Password in place of your regular email password.

This printer:

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Email > Settings / Scan to Email Setup

Scan to Email – Two-Step Verification and Application Password

Email Account Security

"Scan to Email", “Scan to Network”, "HP Scan > Email" and "Share" are subject to your Email Account provider's security that governs how your email account interacts with "third party software / apps".

For example, Google (G-Mail) and other email providers, including (and not limited to) Apple, Microsoft, and Yahoo, might require that you enable 2-Step Verification AND create and use an App Password to interact with the printer software, printer applications, or any program that requires that software to access your email account.

Where the email provider's security requires it, the App Password is used in place of your normal email / account password in "third party" apps and software.
