Hi @t1psytown,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 5020 printer is not printing after selecting "Optimize and Print," here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Printer and App Settings
- Ensure Printer is Connected: Confirm that your printer is properly connected to your WiFi network.
- Verify Printer Status: Check the printer’s status on your phone’s HP Smart app. It should indicate that the printer is online and ready.
Update Firmware
- Check for Updates in HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
- Go to the printer’s settings or information section.
- Look for a firmware update option and follow the instructions to update the firmware if available.
Restart Devices
- Power Cycle the Printer:
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Restart Your Phone: Sometimes, restarting your phone can resolve app-related issues.
Reinstall the HP Smart App
- Uninstall and Reinstall:
- Delete the HP Smart app from your phone.
- Reinstall it from the app store.
- Set up your printer again through the app.
Check Print Settings
- Review Print Settings:
- Make sure that you are selecting the correct paper size and type.
- Check if there are any specific print settings that might be causing issues.
Try Printing from Another Device
- Test Printing from a Different Device:
- If possible, try printing from another device (such as a computer or another phone) to see if the issue persists.
Check Printer Queue
- Clear Print Queue:
- On your phone, go to the printer’s settings in the HP Smart app and check if there are any stuck print jobs. Clear them if necessary.
If you follow these steps and still face issues, updating the printer’s firmware through the HP Smart app or the HP website (if accessible) might help resolve any underlying problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
