Hi there!
I'm trying to use the scan to computer function from my scanner's touch interface, but it tells me I need to activate the feature via the HP Utility. This has been replaced by HP Smart as far as I understand and there's no option to activate this feature there. (If I go to administrator settings, all features are activated.) What do I do, can somebody help me with this, please?
Thanks,
Christoph

Hi Christopher,
Please try downloading and installing the HP Essential Software for your printer by using HP Easy Admin instead, then install the HP Essential and HP Easy Scan software:
https://support.hp.com/my-en/document/c06164609
Once completing the installation add the printer under Printers & Scanners, be sure to select the printer model with the Use drop-down menu.
Double-click the printer and click on Printer Settings, open the Utility tab and click on Open Utility to launch HP Utility.

Hi,
Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.
Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip
As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation and check for any difference, this installs HP Utility and enables Scan to Computer.

Thanks for the quick reply and help Shlomi. I've followed the steps now carefully several times, but I never seem to get the "Skip to Software Download" option. I'm told to proceed online, from where it offers me a link to instal HP Smart via the AppStore, but in fact it never seems to actually get removed by HP Easy Start in the first place (even though I get a confirmation of successful removal). Have now removed it manually from the app folder, too, then set up the new device using Easy Start. It still takes me to a screen that says "Get Software", from where it takes me to "Continue Online". That in turn takes me to https://123.hp.com/gb/en/devices/setup-app and from there I can only download HP Smart. Is there a direct link to get HP Utility?
Thanks!
Christoph

Thank you so much, Shlomi, that did the trick! Much appreciate the help!
Do queries in these forums get back to HP or is there a way of feeding this back? Surely they should make sure their current software does everything it promises, rather than users having to find a workaround by using old versions of software?
Have a great day!
Christoph
