@Peter1510, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "Output Bin Full" Error for HP OfficeJet Pro 9020!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer is displaying an "Output Bin Full" error message while the bin is actually empty, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Output Flap:
    • Verify if the output flap is functioning correctly. If the flap is slightly open or doesn't close entirely, inspect it for any obstructions or debris that might be causing the issue.
    • Manually manipulate the flap to ensure it opens and closes properly.

Checking the output flap for obstructions

  1. Clear the Output Bin Area:
    • Remove any visible paper or debris from the output bin area, even if it seems empty. Sometimes small bits of paper can cause sensor issues.

Remove paper from the tray

Inspect and Clean the Eject Flap:

  • Make sure the eject flap installed just above the output bin is free of any paper pieces and functional.
  • If the flap is damaged or missing, it may need replacement, in which case contacting HP support is recommended.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes errors can be resolved with the latest firmware, which contains bug fixes and improvements.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly into the wall outlet and to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer to complete the reset process.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
