I have an 1102W that works fine on USB, but I want to drive it wirelessly from my XPS15 Windows 10
So, I went to How to set up wireless feature on LaserJet P1102W and tried to follow Dvortex's instructions:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://hp.care/2o1xShv to download and install the printer drivers.
The downloaded driver is named hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20120831-50157036_SMO (1).exe
When I execute it, to install, it fails to initiate. Watching on the process monitor, I can see the process terminates just as the unzipping finishes.
Firewall problem? So, next I went to HP Printers - Firewall Blocking Driver Install or Printer Function (Windows), followed instructions, disabled Defender. Still no luck 😞
Help!
TIA

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you facing this issue after an Update?
When was the printer working for the last time?
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-printer-series/4110... to download and install the drivers.
Please follow the below steps to assign Manual IP:
1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.
2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.
3) Open web browser - Chrome or IE or any other browser that you are using.
4) Type the IP address mentioned on Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.
5) Go to the Network tab.
6) Click on Networking from the left pane.
7) Then click on Network Address (IP).
😎 Click on Manual IP Address and go to suggest a Manual IP.
9) Scroll down the screen and select Manual DNS server.
10) Enter the Primary and secondary DNS server from the Network Configuration page into the Manual Preferred DNS server field.
11) Click on Apply.
Refer to the video link for step by step instructions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnYyq80V9g
Note: The video is for win 8 but steps are similar for other operating systems as well. You need to enter the IP address in the browser's URL or the address bar to access the printer page.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Raj,
Background: it's a relatively new laptop that has worked fine, on USB cable, with both my 1102 and my 1102W. It's never been configured for wireless. Nor, to my knowledge, has it had a recent update, beyond the frequent stuff from MS
Back to the problem: I followed your steps and the same problem has manifested. The HP installer process terminates just after the unzip completes.

I did a fresh install of Windows 10, downloaded the Drivers / Software. The Package Extracts to 100% but will not initiate, I have ran every possible compatiblity variation, removed drivers, turned off firewalls and used the HPPSDr.

Hi, Shlomi
Thanks for the tip about using the Run command (I had forgotten all about that one!) Why on earth can't HP sort that one?
It now prints okay from Word but when trying to print from Google, the green light on the printer just flashes and nothing happens! Oh, well, I guess you can't get everything with HP!! Thanks again for your help.

What browser you refer to Jacqueline?
First, please be sure to cancel any active print from the print queue and then restart the printer, to ensure it is ready with the power light solid lit.
If you may refer to Google Chrome, from the print dialog click the Change button, ensure the printer driver is selected and not HP Print for Chrome by any chance.
I would also check the Two-Sided option is not checked by any chance, then try printing and check for any difference.
If that fails with the same results, also try clicking the "Print using system dialog.." (Or click the CTRL + SHIFT + P key combination) and try printing then.
