Hi, I have a Medical Analyzer which is only compatible with P1102 printer. For sometime the printer was working fine with the analyzer and suddenly it starts showing P1015 as the detected model. Also I checked in the PC, the PC also shows as P1015. How can I solve this issue? Since P1102 is out of production, we don't have any other option rather than attending to this issue.

The analyzer will print only if it detects P1102 on the printer option.

Hi @ISDLABS,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP LaserJet P1102 printer is being misidentified as a P1015 by both your medical analyzer and your PC. This issue could be caused by a printer driver mix-up, a firmware issue, or incorrect identification due to hardware settings.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Reinstall the Correct Driver for P1102

  • Uninstall the Current Printer Drivers:
    1. Disconnect the printer from your PC.
    2. Go to Device Manager and uninstall the P1015 printer driver. Ensure that the driver files are completely removed by selecting the option to delete the driver software.
    3. In Control Panel > Devices and Printers, remove any instances of the P1015 and P1102 printers.
    4. Restart your PC.
  • Download and Install the Correct Driver:
    1. Download the official HP LaserJet P1102 drivers from HP's website.
    2. After downloading, install the correct P1102 driver.
    3. Once installed, reconnect your printer and ensure it's detected as P1102.

2. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes a firmware issue can cause the printer to be misidentified. You can check for the latest firmware updates on HP's support page. Download and install the update, following HP’s instructions.

3. Reset Printer to Factory Settings

  • Perform a factory reset on the printer to ensure it clears any memory issues that may be causing it to misidentify itself as a P1015.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the Resume button (the button with the green or amber light) while turning on the printer.
    • Continue holding the button for around 10-20 seconds or until all the lights on the printer begin to flash, then release the button.

4. Check Printer Identification in BIOS/Hardware Settings (if applicable)

  • If your medical analyzer uses any specific identification methods for the printer, ensure that the P1102’s internal settings (if accessible) are correct. Some devices may store the model number incorrectly, which leads to misidentification.

5. Clear Analyzer's Printer Cache

  • If the analyzer has any memory or cache settings for storing printer profiles, try clearing them so that it can properly recognize the P1102 after reinstalling the driver and resetting the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
