HP LaserJet P1109w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So.... HP P1109w Laser Jet Printer, trying to set it up. USB connection, Win10/64bit, Model # appears to be RU5-8935

"Regulatory Model #" is BOISB-0901-06

Runs sometimes through the laptop (USB cable) but very slow, and many times image is wrong: cuts off image and puts it on the end. Sometimes it does not run at all. Really guessing a firmware problem.

BOTH the programs here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-p1109-printer-series/8501654/model/...

on the support site will not run correctly.

One (the "full feature software and driver") extracts, and then disappeared. Then it started saying "cannot delete out file" or something similar.

The other (firmware update) extracts, (seems to run) runs and then "cannot detect an HP printer installed."

HPDr, when it runs, can find nothing wrong with the printer or anything.

I have gone to the other threads suggesting downloading firmware from other places, and they are dead links.

Any help would be appreciated.

@Yoda175, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Refer to this document to know how to setup the printer - USB Printer Setup (Windows)

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Alternatively, you may install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

If the issue persists, create a new user account and try installing the printer driver.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

Following your description, I would rather suspect a connectivity problem than a lack of printer updates.

Please ensure the USB cable is connected to the back of your PC, not through any USB hubs or extensions, ensure you use a standard USB cable, no longer than 2 meters long.

If the same persists, I would also recommend trying a new USB 2.0 cable for a printer and check for any difference.
