Can I use a HP LaserJet P1505 with an M1 Mac Mini and OS 11.6?
The P1505 does not appear as an available device in my Printer & Scanner Preference.
The HP website directs me to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-laserjet-p1500-printer-series/3435666/mo... for the P1505 driver. But, when I download and attempt to install that driver, I get this dialog box:
I also have a P1102w. For many years HP did not publish a current driver for it. During that time I had to rely on a generic printer driver. Earlier this year, HP did produce a current driver for the P1102.
I am wondering now if we are repeating that experience with the P1505.

Hi,
Try following the Resolution section below, I believe this should help:

I have the same problem but the resolution doesn't work because the "Apple cannot check it for malicious software".
Others (including Apple) have suggested installing the Apple version 5.1 driver set for HP Printers. This allows me to add the printer back in as WiFi, but the print jobs fail to connect to the printer.
Mac OS X "Big Sur" version 11.6 (20G165).
Best regards,
Mark B.

Hi @MarkB417,
From your Downloads folder, right-click the file and select Open rather than double-clicking it, then click on Open:
I do able to successfully install it using this method while testing, then try adding the printer and check for any difference.

Hi ShlomiL,
I was able to run the package, and it may have helped. I was able, eventually, to get WiFi printing to work for the LaserJet, but not right away. Not entirely sure what I did to make it work, but I have reason to believe somewhere in the Mac it had an incorrect IP address for the printer. The last thing I did before getting it to print was kind of weird: for some reason, the LaserJet was showing up as a network in my WiFi list. I was able to connect to it and was able to print through that connection. When I reconnected to my regular network, WiFi printing still worked. No idea, unless the direct connect updated some internal parameter in the Mac with the correct printer IP. WiFi printing continues to work.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
Best,
Mark B.
