PC won't recognize printer

Third party support tech for HP says PC drivers corrupted and needs to be replaced. Charging $150 in advance to take control of PC to fix.  I set up new printer yesterday and all worked fine.  Now PC can't connect to printer.  I want to make sure I'm not being scammed before giving someone access to my PC and forking out money for something I don't think I should have to pay for.  Both PC and printer under HP warranty.

What are my options?  Thanks in advance for insights.
