I was successfully using my HP Desk Jet 2700, then I needed to change the tri colour ink, as I have done on many occasions. The printer is now not working, I have followed many trouble shooters, all of them are not working. I need to finish the set up  with PIN code found  on printer door (never had to do this before when changing ink) The code is not being accepted as invalid. I've tried it on my Phone HP App and Laptop HP App

I am so frustrated, as I need to print a lot of things.

Hi @AlmaCalma,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Your HP DeskJet 2700 series uses the HP App for setup and cloud features. The PIN printed inside the printer door is for Wi-Fi Direct pairing, not for HP Smart account setup. If the app is asking for a PIN and rejecting the one inside the door, it means the printer is in Wi-Fi Direct mode or Setup mode, not fully connected to your network.

HP Recommended Fixes

Step 1: Confirm Printer Connection

  • On the printer, press the Wireless and Information buttons together.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page.
  • Check if the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi (SSID should match your home network).

Step 2: Reset Wi-Fi Direct PIN

  • On the printer:
    • Press and hold Wireless and Cancel for 5 seconds.
    • This resets network settings and generates a new PIN.
  • Print the info sheet again to see the new PIN.

Step 3: Reconnect Using HP App

  1. Download HP App:👉 HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site
  2. Open the app → Add Printer.
  3. If prompted for a PIN:
    • Use the Wi-Fi Direct PIN from the info sheet (not the one inside the door if it changed).
    • Or choose Connect via Wi-Fi and follow the setup wizard.

Step 4: Restore Defaults (If Still Stuck)

  • Press and hold Cancel + Wireless + Power for 10 seconds.
  • This resets the printer to factory defaults.
  • Re-run the HP app setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello, thank you  very much for info and help, but it was asking for the PIN  on  ink door, and showed a diagram, generated code. It was invalid.
