I am trying to add my printer to my hpsmart app but it failed repeatedly. I tried using the manual web version to add it by using the ip address http://192.168.223.1. It asked for pin mentioned in the ink cartridge panel. Even after repeated inputs, kept getting error that pin is invalid. It finally locked me out due to authentication security. Can someone help me out please ?

Hi @Sasklife
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2723e is stuck in a frustrating loop where the PIN isn't being recognized, and now you've been locked out due to authentication security.
Let's go through a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this.
Steps to Fix HP DeskJet 2723e PIN Recognition & Lockout Issue
1. Wait for Lockout to Expire
- HP’s security system temporarily locks the printer after multiple incorrect PIN attempts.
- Wait 15–30 minutes, then try again.
2. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
3. Retrieve PIN via HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Select your printer and check for Web Services settings.
- If ePrint is enabled, the PIN may be visible.
4. Use HP’s Default Wi-Fi Direct Password
- If prompted for a password, try entering 12345678 (HP’s default Wi-Fi Direct password).
- If this works, access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) via 192.168.223.1.
5. Reset Web Services
- If you can access HP’s Web Services settings, try disabling and re-enabling them.
- This may generate a new claim code for ePrint.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP’s official troubleshooting page here and download the latest firmware update for your printer.
- Install the update and restart the printer.

Thank you HP Support team for reaching out. Unfortunately , none of the options worked out for me as my printer is not getting recognized thru the HP smart app and the manual set up is still locked for further authentication and without a recognizable pin wont let me proceed to next step.
