The answer depends on the context of your question.

For example -

  • Are you asking to print your documents on larger paper?

  • Are you asking to change the size of the font (text) in the document so the document is easier to read when printed on Letter or A4 paper?

  • Are you asking about the Scale of the document -- as in printing the document at some percentage of 100%?

What to do?

What you do -- and where you make changes -- depends on one or more of

  • The Printer Model
  • Your Operating System / version
  • The tools -- applications, software, or even browsers -- available on your device (related to Operating System / version)
  • The application or software you are using to create your print job

Examples

PDF Print - Adobe Reader or HP Smart / HP App

If the paper is correct but the scale of the content is too small on the paper,

  • Print using some form of "Fit" to shrink or extend the content to the margins and paper settings.

OR

  • If your app supports printing to Scale, print at 100% or some part of 100% (larger or smaller)

=====================================

Example - Adobe Reader - PDF Print - Main Menu / Properties

PDF_Reader_Main_Menu_Border_10PDF_Reader_Main_Menu_Border_10

Example - HP App (Mobile) - PDF Print - Pre-check for paper (EWS) / Transform / Print Options

  • #1 displays the EWS check / adjustment for the paper size / tray assignments.
  • #2 illustrates opening the HP App, clicking to open the Printer setup, and selecting the Document and job typ
  • #3 shows after having opened the selected document and selecting Print Preview --
    • Select Transform is optional -- If opened, Select Transform opens the Resize & Move feature (Steps 4 and 5)
    • The "Slide Up" / "Slide Down" Bar opens (model dependent) Print Options:  Printer, Paper, Print Copy #, HP+ Private Pickup (if / as applicable), Print Quality, Color Options, 2-sided
  • After / When all settings are checked / updated, Click to Print

Printing from a Browser

If you are printing from a browser, pay attention to the Scale and other settings (for example, margins).

Example - Firefox - Print PDF

Printing in Word

If your Word document fonts are "too small" -

The document is difficult to read when the content is printed on Letter or A4 paper,

then

  • Change the size of the font used in the document.
  • Save the document with the new font size
  • Print from Word or Export to PDF and print that file

General Example - Print Document in Word

Word_Print_Pages_1-4_Duplex_3Word_Print_Pages_1-4_Duplex_3

What about ---

Word - Document Scale

  • Change the Scale setting in Word > FileOptions > Advanced > Section Print

``````````````````````````````````
 Word – Document Scale
Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:
Document Scale
There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.
If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.
When printing directly from within Word
Setup:
Word > FileOptions > Advanced
In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)
Check or UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes
Click OK to save changes
