Hi @Dave19691,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the issue of your HP OfficeJet 8122e printer not allowing you to scan on macOS Sonoma, follow these steps.
Ensure the Printer is Set Up Correctly
- Power on the Printer: Ensure your printer is turned on and connected to the same network as your Mac.
- Check Printer Connectivity: Make sure your printer is connected to WiFi or directly to your Mac.
Download and Install the Latest HP Software
- Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter Your Printer Model:
- Type "HP OfficeJet 8122e" in the search bar and select your printer model.
- Select macOS Sonoma:
- Choose macOS Sonoma (macOS 14) from the operating system dropdown.
- Download and Install the Software:
- Download the recommended software for your printer, which should include the HP Easy Start application. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Add the Printer to Your Mac
- Open System Settings: Go to Apple Menu > System Settings.
- Printers & Scanners: Click on "Printers & Scanners."
- Add Printer: If your printer is not listed, click the "+" button to add it. Select your HP OfficeJet 8122e from the list and click "Add."
Test the Scanner
- Open HP Smart App: After installing the software, open the HP Smart app from your Applications folder.
- Set Up Scanning: Follow the instructions in the HP Smart app to set up and test the scanner.
Use Image Capture (Alternative Method)
- Open Image Capture: Go to Applications > Image Capture.
- Select Printer: Choose your HP OfficeJet 8122e from the devices list.
- Scan Document: Use Image Capture to scan documents.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and enable scanning from your HP OfficeJet 8122e on macOS Sonoma.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
