Tried to print pages of a manual.  I believe I hit Save in error when it showed pages 1-3, now I cannot change page range.  Tried unplugging.  How can I delete page range 1-3 and use number as needed?

thank you!

Hi @Rosann8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be trying to print a manual and accidentally locking in a page range that won’t let go, even after unplugging the printer. It’s like the printer is stuck in a memory loop, insisting on pages 1–3 when you need flexibility.

Let’s gently reset things so you can print exactly what you need.

Steps to Clear Page Range and Print Custom Pages

1. Clear the Print Queue

Sometimes the printer holds onto previous settings:

  • Press Windows + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
  • Right-click your HP printer → See what's printing
  • Cancel all documents in the queue.

2. Restart the Print Spooler Service

This resets the printer’s memory:

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click → Restart

3. Open the Document Again

  • Open the manual in your PDF viewer or browser.
  • Go to File > Print
  • In the Page Range section, manually enter the pages you want (e.g., 4-10, 5,7,9, etc.)
  • Make sure "Save as PDF" is not selected choose your HP printer.

4. Avoid Clicking “Save”

If you see a “Save” option again, it may be trying to export the file instead of printing. Always choose Print and confirm the printer name is correct.
