Pagewide Pro 577dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer just got updated to MAHDWOPP1N001.1850B.00 firmware and I wonder what's new compared to the previous 1839A version ???

As far as I can see, they broke the sleep timer option (display remains ON all the time even when timer set to 5 minutes).

GREAT JOB HP !!!!!!!

The issue with seelp mode not working has been sorted out by changing a depleted ink cartridge ! Thanks to Kent G (alias F2point8). So all is back to normal for now with firmware 1850B.00 on my PageWide Pro 577dw

I received the same Firmware update but with different result.  Printer goes to sleep, but will not wake when print job is sent.  I can't find any information on this firmware update.

I have the same problem. Since the Firmware Update my Pagewide Pro 377dw does not recover from sleep mode. I need to unplug the printer in order to reset.

We have the same issue. Can communicate with the webpage but not wake it up or restart from the control. The only way to bring it back online is to pull the power every time it has power saved.

Time HP had a solution. Will reappling the June 2018 Firmware work?

Greetings everyone,

HP has created a new firmware update for the HP PageWide 377dw, HP PageWide Pro 477dw/dn, and HP PageWide Pro 577dw/57750dw products to help mitigate the “Unable to Wake from Standby Mode” problem that some users experience after updating to version 001.1839A firmware (and also on certain older versions).

The specific change included in this new firmware release adds the ability to set the Power Management Energy Save “Standby After” setting to “Never” as shown here:

                SETTING STANDBY TO “NEVER”

 StandbyNever.jpg

Changing the Energy Save Setting to Standby After “Never” will prevent the device from entering Standby Mode, and therefore prevent the problem of not being able to wake up from Standby Mode.

Getting the New Firmware

If your printer is not set to update automatically and/or has not already been updated, you can manually check for the update via the Embedded Web Server (EWS) on the product.

To check the version of firmware on your printer, enter the IP address of your printer into your web browser to view the EWS, then select the "Tools" tab, then select "Printer Updates", and then "Firmware Updates" on the left panel.

The firmware version which provides the ability to set the Standby time to "Never" has the characters of "1850B.00" at the end of the firmware version.  If your printer has a lower version number, go to the "Check for Printer Updates" section lower on the page and click on the "Check Now" button, then follow the prompts to download and install the printer update.

Hi Kent

Thank you for the reply.

Sorry but the Never setting allows for some hours of printing but the unit still falls into a coma eventually, that requires a power cycle to recover from.

It does indicate that it is a problem in the logic of the Power saving system. I would suggest that the saving routine has also disabled the "waking" function.

Hi Compsos,

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it very much.

We've never seen a device which becomes unresponsive after setting the Energy Save Standby setting the "Never", however there is a first for everything!  Please  doublecheck that the setting is still set to "Never" and then click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the Power Management page, and then power-cycle the device.

If this still doesn't prevent the problem from occuring, or if you prefer to not disable Power Save mode by setting it to "Never",  the other workaround that seems to work for some users is to power-cycle the device with the ethernet cable disconnected, and then once the device has come to a ready state after the power-cycle, reconnect the ethernet cable.  Of course the would need to be done each time the device is power-cycled.

Hope this helps.

HP has released a firmware update which mitigates the sleep mode problem.

If your printer is not set to get printer updates automatically and/or has not already been updated, you can manually check for the update via the Embedded Web Server (EWS) on the product.

To check the version of firmware on your printer, enter the IP address of your printer into your web browser to view the EWS, then select the "Tools" tab, then select "Printer Updates", and then "Firmware Updates" on the left panel.

The firmware version which mitigates the sleep mode problem has the characters "1908C.00" at the end of the firmware version.  If your printer has a lower version number, go to the "Check for Printer Updates" section lower on the page and click on the "Check Now" button, then follow the prompts to download and install the printer update.
