I followed some of the advice given here with a few extra unknown details and was able to get this fixed. It's definitely an update issue so it needs to be rolled back to the previous version. Formatting the printer did not work for me. Delete the printer/drivers from your computer.
1. Disconnect the printer from all internet sources (including your computer) and power on
2. Download the Firmware from HP and drag the file into WinZip:
3. Extract the following file from WinZip:
maverick_dist_pp1_001.2313A_nonasser_appsigned_lbi_rootfs_secure_signed.ful2
4. Insert empty USB drive into computer
5. Right click the USB drive and select "Format": File system: FAT32: Start
6. Drag and drop the extracted file onto your USB drive
7. Plug the USB drive into the printer
(NOTE: if you are receiving a green screen 12345, try using the USB that is located near the screen display)
8. Let the process verify and complete
9. Plug in LAN
10. Reinstall printer through windows
Took me all day but finally was able to get this fixed. I was using the USB in the back of the printer and it was giving me the green screen error. Good luck all. This was definitely a pain.
If the USB doesn't boot on it's own try going into the boot menu:
1. Plug in USB with file on it (see above)
2. Unplug the printer
3. Press the on button and plug printer in at the same time
4. Depress power button until side buttons on the display light up
5. Press Home->Arrow->Home->Home
6. Select reflash and go through the process
Again, if you get a green screen 12345, try using the USB located to the left of the screen display.

After two days of trouble shooting I tried the response that Blairuachdair posted. I was ELATED when I was able to print after I went through the steps. Then I tried to print another document and the touchscreen on the printer froze again. I've spent two freaking days on this and it still doesn't work. Obviously, the printer is fine - it's the firmware that HP apparently didn't bother to test. Ridiculous! Sure would be nice if HP would be proactive and help its customers. I was thinking I was gonna have to go buy a new printer - and still may if I can't get this resolved. But you can be sure it won't be an HP again!

Hello all,
Mine got fixed and is working. I deleted the software from my computer including the HP doctor and just reinstalled them and ran HP doctor to test it and it all works now. I didn't need USB and Zip and unzip anything.
Good luck all.
What a headache !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to reflash from the USB you need to go to a different sub menu
- Once you enter blue screen menu (see original steps posted by me if you are not sure how to get to this point)
- Select MENU (bottom right) to bring up the DRIVE REFLASH screen
- Select OK (bottom left) – this reflashes the printer with the firmware on the USB
