Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

When I try print from my iPad to this printer, it defaults to Tray 1 (manual feed) and says it is out of paper.  The printer will not override and move to Tray 2, which has paper.

 

How do I set it to Tray 2 (which is full of paper)? I've looked in settings, I’ve looked on the app, I’ve looked online at solutions and there is no way to set Tray 2 as default tray. 

 

I am ready to return this printer if I can’t figure out in the next day or so. 

 

How do I complete this?
