HP 6700
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My cable company installed a new router, with 2.4 and 5.0 ghz.  The SSID was changed for the 5.0 ghz but kept the same for the 2.4 ghz.  The password was kept the same for both the 2.4 and 5.0ghz.   Now my computer cannot finf the printer. I can install the printer manually or through a USB wire. But the printer is always saying incorrect password when I try to run the wireless setup wizard.  The printer can find the 2.4ghz SSID - but like I said it wont accept the password. I've tried everything, dleteing and installing, running all kinds of wizards from HP.  All my other devices connect with the new router no problem. But not the printer. I am stumped. Can anybody solve this mystery?

@akommers,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

If you are using a wireless router, check your router’s documentation or support site to make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

try connecting to the network.

If the issue persists, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16 and update the firmware for the printer.

Restart the printer and try to connect.

Keep me posted, how it goes!
