My daughter gave me her envy 6055, and it’s asking for a password when I try to add it to my WiFi.  She never set up a password so how do I change it?

@Djs9027, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Envy 6055 printer is asking for a password when you're trying to connect it to the WiFi network, it is likely requiring the WiFi network password. Here are the steps to connect your printer to your WiFi network:

Check WiFi Network Password: Make sure you have the correct password for your WiFi network. This is the password you use to connect other devices (like a smartphone or computer) to your network.

Printer Setup:

  • Place the printer near the WiFi router for a strong signal.
  • Ensure the printer is powered on.

Connect via the HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer if you haven't already.
  • Open the app, click on the plus sign (+) to add a new printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to the WiFi network. The app will prompt you to enter the WiFi password to facilitate this connection.

WPS Method (if your router supports it):

  • Check if your router supports WPS (WiFi Protected Setup). This is usually indicated by a button labeled “WPS.”
  • Press the WPS button on your router.
  • Within two minutes, press the Wireless button on the printer for about three seconds or until the wireless light begins to blink. This will establish a connection without requiring you to enter the password manually.

If you are still having trouble, ensure that the router settings allow new devices to connect, and verify that you are using the correct WiFi network password. If you have trouble locating the network password or connecting the printer, you may consult your router’s manual or contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance.

If the password being requested is for the printer itself, it may be a different issue, and you might need to reset network settings on the printer. Feel free to specify this if needed for more guidance.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
