HP LaserJet Pro M402n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. My company recently received some HP LaserJet printers from our partners. These printers print the name of their company on the top of every page, no matter whether the printer is connected to the network or not. I am a complete newbie when it comes to such modifications but I am assuming it's an internal edit in the printer driver. My supervisor wants me to figure out how we can achieve this in our printers, where it prints out our company name on top no matter what is being printed and how the printer is connected to the computer (USB, Network).

After doing some research I came across the terms PCL 6 macro overlay etc. But most of it is going over my head.

Will someone kindly explain me like I'm 5 what exactly I should do to put the company title in the printers permanently? I am mostly trying to do them with LaserJet m402n printers, but might want to do it for more HP printers.

Thank you so much!

-Monjur

The easiest thing is to add custom watermark ( company name) in print driver, try it:

You can adjust position, transparency and colour.

The PCL6 overlay would only apply when printing from a PC, to print even when not connected would be done either by permently storing the job in the memory of the pritner, but that would not cause it to print out on every PC based jog. It is possible that they have a usb stick with a forms program on it installed on the printer. The obvious easy answer is to contact your partners and ask how they do it, as this will save you a lot of time trying to figure out what they did.

Thank you a lot for your reply! 🙂 How do I permanently store the job in the printer? I think it'll be OK if it prints on most PCs. Thank you

But will that serve my purpose? Wouldn't it have to be changed in every new PC?

Yes.

As mentioned above contact your partners and ask how they did it.
