HP Envy 7640
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Hi,

I have a HP Envy 7640 Printer, I changed the ink today, and now every time I try and print something it comes up with the error "Photo Tray Blocked". - I can assure you it is not blocked. I followed the guidelines online for this error and everything is in order, yet it still won't print.

I might cry! I just bought the very expensive ink today to put in, and now it doesn't want to print anything. My warranty expired so I can't speak to anyone over the phone, and the virtual assistant brings me to the same guideline I followed, but did not work.

I restored the printer, turned it off and on again - noting is working. I need to print my work!!!!

PLEASE HELP!

Hi @sander47

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Appreciate you trying the steps, let's try resetting the printer -

1) Take out the cartridges.
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Have you tried re-seating the tray? If you haven't, try step#1 from this document

Also, try updating the printer's firmware. Download and install the firmware for macOS 10.12 version from this link

Note - The firmware update is specific to HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer series.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
