After more than 14 years using my HP Photosmart 8750 printer all of a sudden the print quality has fallen greatly. I do a lot of photographic printing and faithful reproduction of colours is important. However, lately on photos the colours are washed out. I have tried various ways to deal with the issue including cleaning the cartridges several times and checking my settings on Adobe Lightroom, the photo processing package I use, to no avail.
I want to try and re-install the latest drivers for Mac Users to see if that has any effect but find that the model is no longer supported.
Anyone have any ideas?
Or do I just have to accept that I may need to replace. Normal printing of text is fine.

Do you have an adequate amount of ink left in all cartridges?
Try making a Photocopy and let me know how is the print quality
If you experience the same issue when making photocopies, then it will be a Hardware issue
Keep me posted

The cartridges are quite full; I even changed one of them (the 102 Gray Photo Print Cartridge),
When I print text it prints in all colours. The problem is when I print photos on HP Photo Paper. The colours then are not of the usual quality.
Is it possible to identify the problem from the data that is shown when I print test pages from the printer after I have carried out cleaning of the cartridges. There is lots of information there but I do not know what it means.
I have tried lots of different things including changing the print profiles In Lightroom but with no effect.
I thought the only thing left to try was the print driver.

You can try to delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2) Select your HP Printer
3) Select Uninstall
4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”
😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10) Select Ok
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12) Close Devices and Printers.
Now, download and install the full-featured software from here
If the quality is the same on photocopies, it could be a hardware issue.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply; I am using an iMac so I guess the procedure is slightly different?
As the printer is no longer supported, will the driver for it be at that location or a different location?
Also, were you able to derive any meaning from the data on the test page?

Sorry about the inconvenience.
Please reach out to HP Support in your region for further assistance.
The report does not talk about the quality issue, it just gives us the ink levels.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I had almost given up and resIgned myself to get another machine. But I have spare HP ink cartridges and HP A3 photo paper so I have a lot invested to just give up.
So I tried another way to see what the problem might be. I took a screenshot of the photo from Adobe Lightroom and lo and behold the colours were fine.
It appears the issue is only apparent when printing on photo paper direct from Lightroom.
Perplexing or what?
