HP PSC 2355 All-in-One Printer
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I was gifted an HP PSC 2355 All-in-One Printer, which although is a bit older, it works great and has multiple awesome capabilities, as an all in one. I bought black ink for it ($60!!), and a USB to USB-C cable ($10) in order to connect it to my 2020 MacBook Air, which currently has iOS BigSur Version 11.7.10; I do see that there is the option to update it to the new MacOS Sequoia, I haven't had the time to update though.

I tried connecting my computer to the printer with the new cable I just purchased, but nothing pops up on my computer? I open the print tab and there is nothing being detected. I turned my printer off and on, and tried checking settings, but nothing. I then tried to download the latest driver, which is up to the MacOS 10, but that didn't work; probably because I am one version up...

This is an issue, because I need a printer ASAP, and buying a new one similar to this one, is very expensive... Plus this is a great printer, it works (I test printed a document with the new ink), and it prints very well. I find it very unfair and frustrating that I have a functioning HP printer, but I cannot use because they only have a driver for MacOS 10 and not for MacOS 11...
I am also very surprised that NOTHING pops up when I connect the printer with a cable? How is that not enough for me to print? I connect to printers all the time and I never had to download anything. Albeit, most printers now connect via WI-FI, bluetooth, etc, but this is a wired connection only computer which I expected to be easier, just plug and play. I'm realizing that is not the case. I can really utilize help here because I have just started small business (6 months ago), and I finally have multiple clients and an opportunity to make my a living. Now my biggest hurdle is that I don't have a printer, and without that, I am toast. I would be very grateful for any help you can offer. This is a great printer and I find it a waste to just throw it away, since it works perfectly.

Hi @elchonon3-5

Before driver installation just check the USB cable is connected between printer and Mac computer.

Then once all USB cables are checked, follow next steps:

1.  Please download and install  HP Printer drivers for MacOS from the next link:

2. And go to System Preferences > Printers then Add the printer.

* Click YES   to say thank you,

* Click Accepted Solution when question is answered.

Best regards,
