Microsoft Windows 11

Please STOP presetting printer default to double sided and landscape.  I asked AI why you do this.  The reply was that you are being environmentally conscious.  I know how to reset my printer preferences, but after I have to reinstall for various reasons the DEFAULT FLIPS BACK to what you want me to want and that both wastes paper because I throw it away and sells more toner because I tossed the 80 page document that I imagined was going to be in portrait mode after I turned my back.  PLEASE LET ME DECIDE ABOUT MY ENVIRONMENT.  You are actually wasting resources and suspiciously promoting overuse of toner.

You need to prevent Windows from managing your printer. Windows keeps track of how you print and if the last print job was double sided, it will make the next one double sided if you are not careful.

What i recommend is to install multiple copies of your printer as described in this video and explained below.

Download the HP full service printer driver for your printer.  Since I do not know your printer model, call it "X"

Install X and rename it to "X_treehugger_landscape" and set it to print double sided and landscape for its default.  Be sure to save or "apply" the settings

Do another install of the X driver and call it "X_portrait_A4" (or whatever).  Do the same thing: configure the defaults and save the settings.

When you want to print, windows will ask you which to use.

To clear out all the other drivers use the printui application

Run the following app from the command line

printui /s

Remove all references to the other HP printers.  Actually, you might want to do this first.
