HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I cannot use my printer via wifi. I was able to configure it after the first launch but then, suddenly, it decided to disconnect and refuses to connect again. I'm 200% sure my wifi hasn't changed, neither has the password or OS or driver or anything else.

I've tried a lot of options:

- holding wifi and cancel button (something happened, nothing changed)

- turning on the printer when the up arrow and cancel button are held (something happened, nothing changed)

- connecting to the HP-Setup<84>M28 LaserJet and opening to 192.168.223.1 (blank page)

- reinstalling the drivers

- full removal of HP drivers and other applications following tutorial from HP

I've tried it on two laptops with Windows 11 (one is HP btw.) and also tried to set up the driver from an Android phone.

Currently, the printer and the scanner work via USB on one device but do NOT work on the HP laptop (neither printing nor scanning, neither USB nor wifi), which is kind of ridiculous, to be honest.

Personally, I think the printer configuration is stuck. Once I printed the configuration report, I can see it still holds the network SSID, even though I've done countless resets (via cancel + wifi and cancel + up + power on).

I'm really exhausted, It's my 3rd week fighting this piece of... hardware. The direct support via Facebook is totally useless, I'm Polish, we talked a bit in polish and then they suddenly sent me messages in russian. Un-be-li-ve-a-ble. Please help.

Try holding the down arrow and cancel button simultaneously and power the printer ON keep the down arrow and cancel buttons pressed for 20 more seconds.

Haha! I wish it was that simple.

It shows two letters, something like "nu" but upper-cased and then nothing changes, I still cannot connect the printer to the wifi.

HP Smart says "Printer found", then "Printer configured" then it is stuck on "Getting printer address" for a longer while and I'm disconnected from my wifi and connected to the printers wifi (very smart btw., you don't even warn the user that he is going to be disconnected from the network, WELL DONE) and in the end, it shows "The printer could not connect to the Wi - Fi network".

Can I finally get some help???

@sasik520, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you need to perform a factory reset on the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
