Can anyone please suggest an alternative to the utterly abysmal HP Smart? This software was forced on me several months ago by HP and it is the worst software I have ever used. Compared to the previous dialog box set up link, HP Smart is incredibly slow and often crashes.
I have the latest version installed but I utterly hate it. Please, does anybody have an alternative suggestions as I can't continue to use this awful product.

What is the exact issue? Are you not able to print scan or copy?
Try installing the full-feature driver for your printer Click here and select your current OS.
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Use the HP Printer Assistant.
You may also refer to this document if needed.

You haven't answered my question at all. I made it clear that I have the latest version installed but you clearly ignored that.
I don't want to use the awful HP Smart which you have forced on people. It takes at least four times as long to scan a simple document. Often the system crashes and it's also not very user friendly when trying to edit scanned documents.
Please provide an alternative as HP Smart is anything but smart - it's terrible!
