HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Last week "print anywhere" stopped working to my Fathers Printer (around 21th Jan.)

HP Smart shows the printer is "cloud" online, but will not printer from  my Desktop or Mobile when the printer is remote cloud. We can select the printer which shows online in the cloud, The jobs appear as a notification "Preparing..." in windows 11,  but there is never a successful print\complete notification.

However, printing using the HP APP's built in  shortcut: "Print Documents" on the HP smart "Portal" works, but that only print pdfs.

We've removed all windows 11 drivers and reinstalled HP Smart - No Joy

On Mobile the, the smart app, updated to a a new app and HP smart app seems to have removed itself. - No Joy

We've:

Reset the printer factory default & reconfigured - No change

Done a full HP reset & reconfigured - No Change

Firmware is MALBECPP1N004.2546A.00, there is a new version available from  16Jan  - MALBECPP-1N004.2533D.00 but this refuses to load, either via IP or directly via USB using the update software. Running  firmware update via printer menu or the Advance settings on the printer says the current version is installed (clearly it isn't!)

I've fetched the printer and connected locally to my home network and the printer prints fine via HP Smart. - locally attached.

To test I'm then putting the Printer or my desktop connecting to a Mobile Hotspot. The only time it prints when "remote" is through the portal's "Print documents"

The printer is sending scans to email with no problems.

This is hopeless!

Any suggestions appreciated (other than chucking the whole thing in the bin!)

Hi @MertonUK,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that the Print Anywhere feature is not working,  I would request you to please follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

Ensure Printer and Device Connectivity

  • Make sure that both your printer and device are connected to the same wireless network, particularly when enabling Print Anywhere for the first time. If the network connection is poor or unstable, it might affect the functionality.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Go to the printer settings in the HP app.
  • Navigate to the Printer Settings section.
  • Ensure that the Print Anywhere feature is turned on by toggling the switch next to "Allow printing from anywhere."

Update HP Smart App

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. You can check for updates in the app store of your device.

Verify Printer Model Compatibility

  • Not all printers are compatible with the Print Anywhere feature. Verify that your printer model supports this feature.

Review HP Account Status

  • Ensure that your HP account is properly set up and that it is linked with your printer. Sometimes, you may need to re-authenticate your account.

Clear App Cache / Reinstall

  • On mobile, clear the HP Smart app cache (Settings → Apps → HP Smart → Storage → Clear Cache).
  • If issues persist, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Re-enable Print Anywhere

  • If you have previously disabled Print Anywhere, connect your device to the same wireless network as your printer to re-enable it.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Everything in this off the shelf standard reply has been done already, many times.

Only thing I failed to mention before is all firewalls are off\suspended, before anyone suggests I try this!

The printer has been working for 30months without issue, originally on windows10, then windows 11 last year. Nothing has changed our end to cause this.

Today (30.01.2026) I see there is a new version of EasyStart v17_3_16. released on the 28.01.2026.

I've uninstalled all drivers and HPsmart. Installed this new EasyStart - did locally via USB and then locally IP to finish off setup of HP+

...No change to the problem.

The fact that there is a firmware update (that still won't install) dated within a few days of the printer stopping printing via the cloud and now drivers being release within the last two days suggests HP have messed this all up in. The android mobile app has changed when I started this on Tuesday, from HP Smart to a totally new HP app.

On Win11 desktop, the printer is showing as online in the cloud , I can view its settings remotely and print history. I can send pdf's only via the built in Print Documents button on the HP Smart app (as previously stated). I'm unable to print with any app, notepad, word, adobe etc using the "HP  Smart Printer" driver. Which shows the printer correctly, I can even take the printer on and off line and this is reflected in the status. I can choose the printer and send a print. There is never a successful printing notification received from the cloud backoffice.

I'll be looking at replacement EPSON printer as a replacement next week.

That’s frustrating. Since it works locally, it’s likely a cloud or account sync issue. Try signing out and back into HP Smart, removing and re-adding the printer to your HP account, and re-enabling Web Services/ePrint. Hope it fixes “Print Anywhere.”

Been here myself with 2 HP+ printers, after the Jan 2026 firmware update HP has deprecated the service for printers out or warranty, how do I know this?

I bought new one and tried Print Anywhere and it works (I returned it for a full refund) as I will NEVER buy HP products again.

Spent +4 hours with HP support wizards to no use.

Shame on HP for not making users aware of this! TheHP+ printers update firmware automatically also.
