I have an Envy 5540 that I have connected to a new Dell Inspiron 3910 running Windows 11, I am using HP Smart, It prints and scans just fine but will not display a Print Preview when printing. The display says "No preview available". This happens with a variety of applications.
I have not found a way to resolve this.
Thank you for any suggestions.

If you have not done so,
Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.
The full driver printer software provides the foundation on which other software, programs, and even applications might depend.
For example,
Both the HP Scan and Capture application and NAPS2 depend on having installed the full driver software.
HP Smart is largely independent but might benefit from having the full driver printer software installed.
What else?
Print Preview is a product of the software / application you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the job to the printer.
Which "variety of applications " are you using where Print Preview is not displaying the file / content to be printed?
=============================================
HP Smart - Windows
HP Smart should be showing a Preview of the file / content that has been opened for printing.
Samples for HP Smart - Windows
In general, the setup must include the correct main print menu options, including having selected the printer (driver).
More Settings > Select the Shortcut to be used for the current job
Verify / Manage the rest of the settings on the More Settings menu
Click OK to save the changes, Exit More Settings and return to the main print menu to click Print

If the full driver printer software is (already) installed but not working,
- Uninstall any printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
- Restart the computer and sign in.
Next,
- Check (for the Printer) in Devices and Printers > If found, Right-Click Printer and Remove -- If any changes are made, that is, you remove anything, Restart the computer and sign in.
Next,
If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, disconnect the cable before installing the printer software.
Installation
- Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start Software
- Open File Explorer
- Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file (likely Downloads)
- Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator”
- If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, connect the cable when instructed (near the end of the installation).
- After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

NAPS2 – “Not Another PDF Scanner” (Free – Donations gladly accepted by the NAPS2 organization)
- Download-Save-Install > NAPS2
- Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
- Not always simple “Plug and Play”, nonetheless, this free software is powerful and configurable.
- NAPS2 might require that the full driver printer software is installed.
Notes
- Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
- Read the Support pages for information
- Read the Getting Started guide
- Combining files? Read the Command Line Usage guide > Select Combining and Converting Files
- NAPS2 might support higher resolutions while still using the ADF
HP Scan and Capture
