I want to print barcodes on an M501 printer that replaces an M506 printer. However, barcode fonts are no longer present on the M501 printer. How to load PCL barcode fonts on the M501 printer ?

Hi @Am068,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To print barcodes using PCL (Printer Control Language) commands on an M501 printer, you'll need to load the appropriate barcode fonts onto the printer. Since the barcode fonts are not present by default, you'll need to obtain and install them onto the printer. Here are the general steps to load PCL barcode fonts on the M501 printer.

  • Obtain the PCL barcode font: You'll need to acquire the barcode font in PCL format compatible with your printer. This font file should have a .SFP or .PFB extension.
  • Access the printer's web interface or control panel: Connect to the printer's web interface or access its control panel to configure settings.
  • Upload the font file: Navigate to the font management section in the printer's settings. Look for an option to upload or install fonts. Use this option to upload the PCL barcode font file you obtained.
  • Install the font: Once the font file is uploaded, follow the on-screen instructions to install it on the printer. This process may involve selecting the font file from the uploaded list and confirming the installation.
  • Verify installation: After installation, verify that the barcode font is successfully installed on the printer. You may find this option in the font management section or by printing a font list from the printer.
  • Use PCL commands to print barcodes: Once the barcode font is installed, you can use PCL commands within your print job to specify the barcode font and content. Consult the printer's documentation or the PCL reference manual for the specific barcode commands supported by your printer model.
  • Test printing: Before deploying the barcodes in your production environment, it's essential to test print to ensure the barcodes are generated correctly and are readable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

We are the IT department of VSM.

We currently have access to the printer's WEB interface, but we can't find any drivers for HP M501 PCL 6 with .SFP or .PFB extension. We only have the drivers available on your site.

Would it be possible to send them to us by e-mail?
Or send us the download link to m.broin@ostin.fr?

Hello,

As in the screenshot, we have no option to import the PCL6 font, even though the driver on the user workstation is PCL6.
