The printer has two paper slots: "tray 1" and "priority printing slot".

In printer properties dialog, for "paper source", there are 4 options: "Auto select", "Printer auto select", "tray 1" and "manual feed tray 1".

However, if there is paper in the priority printing slot, the printer takes the paper from it, regardless of what I've selected!

Is there a way to fix that?

In Printer properties dialog, Device parameters tab, all the slots have A4 paper format selected (which is correct).

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that the printer is picking up paper from the wrong tray, I am glad to assist you.

Perform a power reset, reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware to install all the latest updates
