I wish to print documents created in Microsoft Word for paper that is defined as a "half-sheet".  This stationery measures 6.38"w x 8.5"l.  I can specify that size to compose my document but I cannot get it to print properly on paper.  I have not been able to find any options within Printer Properties that allow me to specify the custom size.  I can only choose from the standard sized in the drop-down menu.  I would appreciate some help with this.  Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Community --

There might be differences between the Envy Inspire and the Envy Photo models.

If the answer lacks the detail necessary for YOUR printer, check the printer's own specifications for supported paper sizes and paper types.

========================

1)  Load Paper / Load Media

Load the Paper according to the instructions in the User Guide for the printer.

User Guide – HP Envy Photo 7200 Series – HP Envy Photo 7900 Series

 Starting on Page 11

 Do not skip Step 7

2)  Printer - Paper Size / Type - Tray and Paper

Alert the printer to the paper loaded in the tray.

If your printer has more than one tray, pay attention to which tray(s) support which paper sizes and paper types.

Notes

Depending on the printer model, the Printer Control Panel touchscreen might provide access to Paper Size / Type settings immediately after the paper is (re)loaded into the appropriate printer intake tray or when the tray is opened and then closed.

OR

If the printer is on your network, use your browser and the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to view / update the paper size / paper types.

Custom size?

If your paper is a custom size, look for "Custom" in the full list of paper sizes.

Remember >> Printers with more than one tray might only support custom paper sizes and types in one of the available trays.

If EWS does not allow setting the paper size or size “Custom”,

If the printer includes a touchscreen display printer control panel,

Look for the setting for “Custom” in the Printer Control Panel after (re)loading the paper to be used

NOTE:  EWS Size Custom is not available for all printers

EWS > HP Document / How-to (InkJet Printers – Basic Information)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

OR

HP Laser Printers - Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Reminder

If asked enter the printer’s PIN number –

The default PIN might be located on the back or inside the printer (ink access area).

EWS – Tray and Paper Management / Paper > Trays

Classic EWS - InkJet Printers / Select other printers

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model and EWS version DependentAdvanced section

Click Apply to save changes

OR

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Paper > Trays > click on Tray to configure

Next (as available)
