I have printed a couple of documents with no problem..but the print queque does not clear. If I do not manally clear them they will reprint if I ever send another print job to printer.
I have HP Print and Scan Doctor so I employed it. No test page ever from within this program (although when asking for a test print under the printer properties there was no problem) the program froze and I cannot even close it.
1. How do I fix the spooling/print queque?
2. How do I fix hp print and scan doctor without having to uninstall and reinstall it? That always seems to be the remedy but is a pita.
3. Also, when I open the program initially it always says an update is available but it is the same one that is already installed. Why is this? Thank you for your assistance.

Welcome to the HP Community --
I don't know how to fix the Print and Scan Doctor -- I do not use it except for the occasional "test" run.
I do remember that the Doctor updates the version on occasion - this does not mean the doctor on your system is "bad", nor does it mean the current version is fixable -- it does generally mean that if the doctor you have installed does not work, there is not usually a fix other than downloading and trying a new copy of the software.
Restart everything, including your router if you can stand it
Download / Install a fresh copy of the Print and Scan Doctor
Run the newly downloaded copy of the application

What else?
In general, many of the things the doctor can do you can do manually.
For example,
If the printer would do better using a TCP/IP connection, change the connection type.
If Print Services is stuck or hung, rebuild the Printer Queue.
If your App Data / Temp folder permissions are wrong or need a reset, check / adjust the Temp Folder permissions.
---------------------------------------------
Print Queue / Print Service Reset
After a print job has been accepted, it is turned over the Windows Print Services for completion.
When a job is "stuck in the queue", it is sometimes due to Print Services being stuck or otherwise “broken”.

First, check that Windows Update does not need to install updates (or Restart)

If the issue is due to Print Services being stuck / hung / corrupted,
- Stop Print Services
- Remove any files in the print queue folder(s)
- Restart the Print Service

Temp Folder Permissions
If the print job is making its way to the print queue and then disappearing,
Check / Correct the folder permission(s)
Temp folder requires full permissions, including Read / Write, for current user
Check / add / edit permissions for user (current login) on Temp folders
C:\Windows\Temp

Thank you for all the information. I am going to save this someplace. I did the service one stop/start and it seems to be working okay. I also deleted the program and kept HP Smart because it has all the information and help I can use if needed.
I certainly appreciate your awesome efforts to assist me.
God bless
