I make sublimation shirts. I need to slow down the speed of my print. It's not in my settings. I see the word speed but it just says unknown. There is no option to change the speed. Can anyone help me please.

@jerrilynnsmith1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're working on sublimation shirts and need to slow down your HP printer's print speed for better ink transfer, but you're not seeing the option in your settings. Let's walk through a few steps to help you adjust your print quality settings, which can indirectly control the speed.

Open Printer Preferences:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP printer and select Printing Preferences.

Adjust Print Quality:

  • Look for a tab like Paper/Quality, Advanced, or Features.
  • Change the Print Quality to Best or Maximum DPI. This slows down the print process and lays down more ink, which is ideal for sublimation.

Check for Advanced Options:

  • Click on Advanced (if available).
  • Look for Print Mode, Speed vs Quality, or similar options.
  • If you see a setting like Speed: Unknown, it may indicate a driver or software issue. Try reinstalling the latest driver from HP Software and Driver Downloads.

Use HP Smart:

  • Download the HP Smart app to access more print settings. HP Smart

Additional Tips for Sublimation Printing

  • Use ICC profiles: These help with color accuracy and may also affect how ink is laid down.
  • Print from design software: Programs like Photoshop or CorelDRAW often allow more control over print speed and quality.
  • Printer compatibility: Ensure your printer model supports sublimation ink and paper. Some HP printers are not optimized for sublimation and may require third-party software or RIP drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
