@Wayne0577, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer is displaying a "Printer maintenance is in progress. Do not interrupt." message for an extended period, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

Reset the Printer

Resetting the printer can recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Reseat the Printhead

Reseat the printhead if your printer has a removable printhead with a latch.

  1. Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area and wait until the carriage stops moving.
  2. Look for a latch on the carriage. If your printer has a latch, proceed to the next step.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  4. Lift the carriage latch, slightly lift the printhead, lower the printhead back into the carriage, wiggle the printhead left and right, and then lower the carriage latch until it stops.
  5. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

If the error message still displays, repeat the steps to reseat the printhead up to three times.
